Everyone has the power to positively influence their own experience no matter what the context. In addition to providing you with a thorough understanding of trauma exposure response, this workshop explores perspectives and strategies that can empower you to actively improve your own day-to-day experience.
You will be introduced to new concepts through a process of self-reflection, and invited to challenge your assumptions about what is and is not possible for you while working in an emotionally charged environment. You will leave understanding what you can do right now, in specific behavioral terms, to develop resiliency so you can do your work sustainably. You will practice so you can begin developing new behaviors and applying new skills as well as sketch out a long-term self-care plan.
- Understand the symptoms and signs of trauma exposure response and compassion fatigue
- Understand and apply the concept of Locus of Control
- Learn the difference between the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system
- Learn and practice techniques that help move you from an anxious state to being a non-anxious presence
- Understand the Ladder of Inference (developed by Chris Argyris) as a way of understanding your own interpretive lens
- Learn the Interpersonal Gap model for leading with intention
- Learn a technique for interpreting and addressing upsets
- Practice self-validation and create a plan for meaningful and sustained self-care
(This workshop has been designed for all levels of staff.)
